Train to Teach

Train to Teach

There are several, teacher training providers in the region and our joint vision is to recruit and train outstanding teachers and school leaders of the future. Here you will find links to their websites and upcoming recruitment and information events in what is widely regarded as the best recruitment pool in the country!

If you are considering teaching as a career or are a school wanting more information about teacher training, then you have come to the right place. The links on the left-hand menu will make sure that you have the information you need to get started - eligibility, experience, training providers, types of course, changes for September 2024 and funding.

SFET Teaching School Hub is on hand to provide impartial advice and support for those wishing to train to teach or get involved in teacher training, mapping all options clearly and signposting good practice.

We understand teacher training. Our primary and secondary SCITT currently trains over 170 trainees a year in schools across Hampshire, Berkshire, Surrey, Sussex and the London Boroughs. We are looking forward to developing new and additional partnerships with other ITT providers across the region; working together to support one another and to ensure a regional voice at a national level.

Teaching in Hampshire and Surrey

Hampshire and Surrey both have a reputation for the provision of high quality education and, with the growth in population/new schools, we need you more than ever before. You are wanted!

Both counties have a strong tradition and commitment to the training and ongoing professional development of teachers.

Surrey is a beautiful county in South East England, which borders Kent to the east, West Sussex to the south, Hampshire to the west, Berkshire to the north-west, and Greater London to the north-east. Surrey is divided into eleven districts: Elmbridge, Epsom and Ewell, Guildford, Mole Valley, Reigate and Banstead, Runnymede, Spelthorne, Surrey Heath, Tandridge, Waverley and Woking.

Hampshire is a high-performing and supportive place to teach, with well over 90% of schools rated good or outstanding by Ofsted. The county boasts a variety of vibrant towns and cities, miles of beautiful coastline and two National Parks. There are excellent connections to London and beyond too.

We are all here to help get you started!

There are many Hampshire and Surrey based, initial teacher training providers that wish to recruit and train outstanding teachers and school leaders of the future.

Each provider has a link below. They all have members of the team who would happily answer any questions that you may have or can offer guidance on what to do next. Just ask!

Want to meet us?

As we hear of information seminars and recruitment events we will post them to our calendar. Each provider will also have an up-to-date list of their events on their website.

If you are a provider and would like to be featured on this page or take part in regional recruitment events, then please get in touch (tshub@sfet.org.uk). We would love to hear from you and to get started - all we would need is your name, logo and website link.
