Supporting Pupils With SEND Through QFT In Primary English

This programme will focus on approaches to quality first teaching that will ensure all pupils needs are met during English lessons. The EEF Guidance report ‘Special Educational Needs in mainstream schools’ (2020) will form the basis of the sessions and support participants to reflect on their current practice and see there is no ‘magic bullet’ to supporting pupils with SEND but instead understanding the needs of individual pupils and their barriers will allow them to ‘weave specific approaches into everyday, high-quality classroom teaching’. Facilitators will provide practical examples linked to the English curriculum on how these strategies can support pupils with SEND:

  • Assessing pupils to understand barriers to their learning
  • Cognitive and Metacognitive strategies
  • Explicit instruction
  • Using technology to support pupils with SEND
  • Scaffolding

The programme will allow participants to embed learning between sessions.

One ticket admits two staff members.
