Train to Teach

Information for School and Trust Leaders

If there is training in an area, there will be teachers in the area!

We know that many schools view supporting the training of the next generation of teachers as part of their professional purpose. By getting involved in teacher training, they support the pipeline of new teachers to the profession. This may also provide an opportunity for schools to identify talent for their own school recruitment needs.

The last few years have seen many changes to ITT. In January, we delivered an Initial Teacher Training (ITT) briefing for school and Trust leaders covering:

  • National changes to ITT from September 2024, including mentor requirements and funding
  • What is Intensive Training and Practice (ITaP)?
  • ITT providers across our Hub region
  • Benefits of your school being involved in teacher training
  • Routes into teaching and funding (including apprenticeships)
  • How to attract candidates to your school.
