What is the function of Appropriate Bodies?
-
An Appropriate Body has the main quality assurance role within the Induction process.
-
The Appropriate Body is responsible for checking that headteachers/principals have put in place a suitable Induction programme for the ECT and ensuring that this programme of support has fidelity to the Early Career Teacher Entitlement (ECTE).
-
This takes the form of periodic Quality Assurance visits, monitoring of formal assessment reports and bespoke support and guidance for school leaders and ECTs.
-
Recording of Induction progress and outcomes with the Teacher Regulation Agency (TRA).
